Welcome to the Heat final of Heat 1 of the Fowler Fic War Series 3 and today we see our 2 heat finalists, Leprosy Infection and Scottishly Fictional battling it out to see who can become our first semi-finalist of the new war.
Leprosy Infection got here in superb fashion. After having one of the best runs in the gauntlet, he outlasted most in the gauntlet, before knocking out the Number 12 seeds John WOSS in the last round on a one-sided judges’ decision.
Scottishly Fictional struggled through the gauntlet, but cm up with a much better run in the sumo, before in the last round, knocking Chameleon out very quickly with the aid of the arena.
Let’s head over to The Butcher’s for what promises to be an excellent battle.
3…
2…
1…
Activate!
It’s Scottishly Fictional who comes out of the blocks first, but it’s Leprosy Infection who comes out faster as both machines tear around the large Butcher’s Poles, to meet. The 3 robots are very similar, each invertible with drum weapons, but it’s Scottishly Fictional who has more power, and it shows, as he shunts him straight back into the wall, tearing at the underbelly with the weapon. The 7mm titanium stands up to it pretty well though, and Chris escapes with little more than a few scratches. The slam into the wall has also helped him, as he falls of the concave wedge of Scottishly Fictional, and is able to run off again. This allows him to get his own 10kg drum into play, and he charges at the side of Scottishly Fictional. Now normally, sloped sides would protect machines from attacks by vertical spinning weapons, but not today as Chris slams into it, flipping Scottishly Fictional up into the air, before rocking back down. Unfortunately for Scott, where he has landed is on top of the drum, and on top of the body of Leprosy Infection, and this gives him the perfect opportunity to shunt him around the arena for a while and tear at the underbelly. Leprosy decides it may be time to use the House Robots for the first battle in this series, and so has a choice between Smack the Flipper, and the new and very scary looking Evil Disemboweller. Naturally, because it’s his first experience, he should take him over to The Evil Disemboweller, but Chris decides to play that card later, and so takes him over to Smack the Flipper instead. Smack has undergone a bit of a change this series, so he now has a vastly more powerful axe and a lot less powerful flipper. He believes that the flipper will now only flip around 200kg as opposed to the previous 350kg. He decides that the axe should be the first of his new weapons to have a play, and so he slams onto the top of Scottishly Fictional. The 12mm titanium easily stands up to it though, and he takes little more than a dent on the top. At this point, Smack the Flipper decides to try and bring his flipper into play and so reverses round, to allow it to cause carnage. Leprosy Infection at this point, has stopped the drum and is perfectly happy just to sit back and watch his foe be destroyed by other means available to him, which in this case, is Smack the Flipper. He slides his flipper underneath him, and as the men in the control booths hit the flip button, Scottishly Fictional flies into the air and lands on his back. This gives Scotty a distinct disadvantage, as he drives away, knowing he can no longer bring his drum or his wedge into the action until he is overturned once more. Leprosy Infection knows this, and runs it to the upturned front of Scottishly Fictional, proceeding to try and bend the 12mm titanium with the drum. It fails though, as it doesn’t have the power behind it to shred, and all it does, is very nearly flip Scottishly Fictional back the right way up. Scott knows he can still use his rear to his advantage though, and runs away, before turning back into him and slamming into the side panel, sending Leprosy Infection jumping backwards. Chris doesn’t like this one little bit, and so traverses around to try and get another slam in himself, only for Scott to slam into him again, sending him jumping backwards once again. This time however it sets Chris up nicely for another attack, and so he charges in at the flat back panel once again. Again, the 12mm titanium stands up to the attack, however it does again flip him up, only this time he falls back to the floor before Chris can get underneath him. At this point Scott has a good idea though, as before Chris can react, he flies straight back into the slowed down drum. This catches Chris off guard and allows Scott to slam him into the fence, and prop him up against it. He can’t stay there for long though, and so falls back to the ground, but it makes his intentions very clear, that even though he’s upside down, he’s not yet out of this fight. Chris likes to think he’s still on top though, and so as Leprosy Infection falls back to the ground, speeds off in a cloud of wheel smoke, back after Scottishly Fictional. This is where another of Scott’s bright ideas comes into play though, as he turns around as Chris comes towards him to bring his front into play for the first time in a while. The move has the desired affect as well. Chris cannot slow down in time, and so hits him underneath the wedge with the drum, flipping him back the right way up, albeit tearing a tiny bit out of the bottom of the wedge. Scott knows that he can now use his own weapon to good effect again, but Chris isn’t about to make it easy for him as he flies to the side, slamming into it with the drum and knocking Scottishly Fictional sideways. Scott doesn’t like this and so tries to get underneath the side of Leprosy Infection with his drum and wedge. This however, doesn’t account for Chris’s driving, and he manages to slide away before Scott can get to him for the first go. The second time, Scott manages to catch him on the very back corner, and he tires to use this to his advantage, but Chris just falls off. Chris knows that he has the advantage in angle as well now and slams into the side of Scottishly Fictional, lifting him off the ground again. Scott isn’t about to let him get away with this though, and this time times his charge to perfection sliding the wedge underneath and landing him on top of the drum. Scott knows that he can try and regain the advantage in this fight now, and so slams him underneath The Butcher’s Poles. Chris and Leprosy Infection try to escape, but get caught up in the maze of falling poles. As they try to escape, they get directly caught underneath one of them, which slams down on the 7mm titanium, bending it down on itself and doing by far the most amount of damage yet in this fight. This time they manage to escape though and are searching for vengeance, but they can’t see Scottishly Fictional who is hiding around the other side of The Butcher’s Poles. Leprosy Infection flies around to try and catch him, but by the time they reach where he thought Scottishly Fictional was, he’s vanished. He’s about to back off, when from around the side Scottishly Fictional flies in at him, slamming into the side with the wedge for what proves to be the final time in the fight as the klaxon sounds.
CEASE
Me- What a fantastic fight, and definitely worthy of a heat final. Both robots and their roboteers exhausted, but we have to wait for a judges’ decision, to see which of them will be going though to the series semi-finals.
